About Shiiweii 拾未
Terry had always been drawn to the beauty and craftsmanship of woodworking. His skills were honed at a woodworking factory in Belize, Central America, where his uncle led him on a journey of discovery. Terry developed a passion for solid wood craftsmanship, mastering the techniques that he would later bring back to Taiwan.
Upon returning home, Terry pursued his love of art and studied at the prestigious National Taipei University of Education. After graduation, he worked at a furniture factory where he further refined his skills and learned about the business side of the industry.
Meanwhile, Hou Mi was carving out her own path in the world of theater. As an actor and stage designer, she was used to thinking outside the box and pushing boundaries. But she felt there was more she could do to express herself creatively.
It was fate that brought these two talented individuals together in a workshop in Liujia 六甲, Tainan. They were both there to collaborate on building a house, and as they worked side by side, they quickly realized they shared a common goal: to create beautiful, handcrafted furniture that would stand the test of time.
And so, in 2017, they founded ShiiWeii Studio. Their partnership was a perfect match, with Terry's mastery of woodworking techniques and Hou Mi's unique creative vision. Together, they set out to make furniture that was not only functional but also a work of art.
Today, ShiiWeii Studio is based in Hsinchu, and their creations have garnered attention from around the world. With each piece they create, they strive to tell a story, to infuse their work with emotion and meaning. And with every passing day, their passion for their craft only grows stronger.
